Getting startedUpdated 2026-10-17

Open this screen in Vespene ▸

Vespene is a StarCraft II study platform built on replays. Tens of thousands of pro and ladder games feed a replay viewer, decision trees and build guides distilled per matchup, timing benchmarks, an AI coach that has read your games, a ranked queue, a tournament circuit, and broadcast tooling.

The premise: improvement comes from studying real games, most of all your own losses, and every screen here is some angle on that.

The one-paragraph tour#

Watch streams, featured games, and the replay archive. Compete in the ranked queue (Patch Clash) and tournaments. Study yourself on the desk (your focus, quests, form, games, opponents and notes, with the AI coach beside them) and study builds in the build library, drilling one as your practice build. Stats holds the pro rankings, the balance report and the maps. Those are the four lanes. And the replay viewer underneath it all plays back any game with analysis layered on top.

The Command Console holds your account: your quests and add-ins, your stream tools, your settings, and this library. On a desktop it is the Dashboard button in the top bar; in the desktop Companion, press F10.

What to do first#

  1. Sign in (Google or Battle.net) and link Battle.net if you did not sign in with it. The link is what ties uploaded replays to you. Two minutes, and half the site lights up because of it. See Getting set up.
  2. Upload a replay, or better, install the Vespene Companion (desktop app) so every game uploads itself when you finish playing. Analysis lands in about forty seconds per game.
  3. Open the Study lane's desk. Your newest game is at the top of its Games view, and a loss opens at its turning point, the exact moment it slipped. Your first quests are dealt there too; clearing them pays vespene. See The study desk.
  4. Ask the coach something. The coach in the desk's right-hand rail answers from your actual games and knows what you are looking at. The first five prompts every day are free.

From there, follow whatever you came for: the ranked queue lives in Compete, build study lives on the Study lane's Builds page, and the articles in this library go deep on each.

What Vespene is not#

Not a stats-tracker mirror of the Blizzard ladder (the ranked queue here is its own ladder on a community balance mod, with its own Elo). Not a subscription product: accounts are free, and the one optional currency (Vespene (the currency)) meters AI coaching and moves prize money, nothing else. And not a black box: where a number comes from a model or an estimate, the UI marks it, and these articles explain the mechanics underneath.

If you get stuck#

Every screen has an article in this library; the search box up top goes through all of them. For something broken, the bug reporter lives in the Command Console and in your menu (the ME button at the top left). For something confusing, the FAQ and troubleshooting page collects the questions everyone asks.
