Clash XP and the season prize pool
The two rewards for playing Patch Clash on Vespene. Clash XP and its uncapped levels (every award amount), the streak, peak and upset moments the ladder announces, and the season prize pool: how it is funded, how it is split, and who is eligible.
Your rating and league say how good you are. Clash XP says how much you play, and the season prize pool pays the best (and most active) players at the end of the season.
Clash XP#
Clash XP is earned for every ranked or unranked game you finish, win or lose, and for the quests you clear in that ladder's world (a daily pays 100, a weekly 300; see Quests, XP, streaks, and achievements). It is one total per ladder, shared across all your races, and it is separate from the Retail XP you earn for your SC2 games elsewhere on Vespene.
| Award | XP |
|---|---|
| Playing a match | 100 |
| Winning | +60 |
| Your first match of the day | +50 |
| Your first win of the day | +100 |
| Win streak | +20 for each win in a row beyond the first, up to +60 |
| Upset: beating a player rated at least 100 higher | +40 |
A "day" resets at midnight UTC. The most one match can pay is 410 XP: a first-of-the-day upset win on a four-game streak.
- Draws pay 100, plus 50 if it is your first match of the day. No win, streak or upset bonus.
- Forfeits: the player who forfeits or leaves earns nothing; the player who was left keeps their full win XP.
- Voids pay nothing to anyone.
- Unranked games pay normally except for the win-streak bonus, and neither side of a game with an unranked player gets the upset bonus.
Levels#
XP fills a level track with no top. Each level needs a little more than the last: reaching level L takes 10n² + 40n XP in total, where n is L minus 1. Level 50 used to be the top; the track keeps going past it.
| Level | Total XP |
|---|---|
| 2 | 50 |
| 5 | 320 |
| 10 | 1,170 |
| 20 | 4,370 |
| 30 | 9,570 |
| 40 | 16,770 |
| 50 | 25,970 |
| 75 | 57,720 |
| 100 | 101,970 |
Your level shows as a chip on your player card, with an XP bar reading "Level N, X XP, Y to Level N+1". Open your own card by clicking your rating on the command bar.
Levels are not leagues. A level measures play; your league crest measures standing. A level 40 player can be in Silver and a level 5 player in Diamond. See Ratings, placement and leagues.
Moments the ladder announces#
The ladder chat and the Discord bot both call out three kinds of moment, using the same rules:
- Win streaks at 3, 5, 7 and 10 wins in a row, then every 5 (15, 20, and so on).
- A new peak: after placement, when a win lifts a book past its previous peak into a new 25-point band.
- An upset: when the loser was rated at least 250 above the winner before the game and had finished placement. At a gap of 400 or more it is called a massive upset.
Unranked winners never trigger a streak or peak announcement. The leaderboard's Feed tab marks the same moments on each result. See Ladder chat and the Discord bot.
The season prize pool#
Each season has a communal prize pool, shown on the ranked screen's prize card with the current total, the split and the patrons board.
How it is funded#
The pool is fueled by the community in vespene, Vespene's optional currency (100 vespene is one US dollar; see Vespene (the currency)). Anyone with vespene can contribute from the prize card. Contributions are one way: they are not refunded, unless the pool itself is cancelled. The Pool patrons board credits everyone who chipped in, by total.
At the time of writing the Season 1 pool stands at over 76,000 vespene (about $760) and is still growing. The card always shows the live figure.
How it is paid#
At the end of the season the pool is paid out as Minerals, the prize currency you can withdraw (one mineral is one cent; see Minerals and prize payouts).
| Place | Share of the pool |
|---|---|
| 1st | 30% |
| 2nd | 20% |
| 3rd | 10% |
| 4th | 7.5% |
| 5th | 7.5% |
| 6th | 5% |
| 7th | 5% |
| 8th | 2.5% |
| 9th | 2.5% |
| 10th | 2.5% |
| Most active player | 2.5% |
| Top Diamond player | 2.5% |
| Top Platinum player | 2.5% |
The three special shares make the pool worth playing for well outside the top ten. The Diamond and Platinum shares are meant for players whose SC2 1v1 league is Diamond or Platinum (not the Vespene ladder crest): the best-placed of each on the Vespene ladder.
Who is eligible#
- At least 50 ranked games in the season.
- Your single highest-placed book counts. If you are ranked on several races or several accounts, placements are never combined across them.
- Unranked games have no standing on the board, so they do not place you.
Season 1 ends on 3 November 2026 at 00:00 UTC (the evening of 2 November in the Americas). Payouts are settled by the Vespene team after the season closes.
What the pool is not#
The Vespene rating, rankings and prize pool are independent of the Patch Clash Circuit. They do not count toward the Patch Clash season final. Running a tournament on the mod? Contact the mod team first (delthus or patches_sc on Discord): season-final points may be awarded if the prize pool warrants it.
