Minerals and prize payouts

Minerals are tournament winnings. One mineral is one cent, they cannot be spent on the site, and the only thing to do with them is cash out to PayPal or Stripe.

Progression and currenciesUpdated 2026-10-17

Minerals are the prize currency. One mineral equals one cent, they enter your wallet only by winning (tournament prize settlement, season ladder payouts), and there is no way to spend them on the site. They exist to leave: you cash them out as real money.

The blue crystal button appears in the header once your balance is above zero. Until you have won something, you will not see it.

Where Minerals come from#

  • Tournament prizes. When an event with an on-platform pool completes, the pool settles to the winners according to the organizer's split. Contributions arrive as vespene; payouts land as Minerals. There is no platform fee: the whole pool goes to the winners.
  • The ranked season pool pays the season's top ten plus the activity and league-based special shares at season end.

Cashing out#

Open the Minerals modal and connect a payout method first:

  • "Connect bank / card (Stripe)" walks through Stripe's onboarding, or
  • PayPal: enter your PayPal email and save.

Then "Cash out": enter a USD amount and submit with "Request cash-out". The minimum withdrawal is $10. Requests move through three states (requested, approved, paid) and you can cancel one while it is still pending. The "Cash-out history" section keeps the record.

Right now cash-outs are reviewed and settled manually, and the modal says so. Expect a human turnaround, not an instant transfer.

Why two currencies#

Splitting spendable credit (vespene) from winnings (Minerals) keeps the flows honest in both directions. Money you put in can only become coaching, prize pools, and stakes. Money you won can only become cash. Nothing converts sideways, and a prize can never be quietly absorbed back into site credit.
